Further details about the role

The position is suitable for an experienced teacher who is confident enough in their own practice, to lead and support colleagues.

The successful candidate will be part of the school leadership team and attend regular meetings to shape the strategic direction of the school.

Each phase leader is responsible for the attainment and behaviour management of their phase.

The role includes:

  • Line managing teachers and support staff
  • Arranging strong and successful transition for children joining and leaving the Reception class
  • Monitoring the curriculum in Reception, ensuring that it meets the needs of all learner, to prepare them for Year 1
  • Being responsible for the good running of the phase including the conduct of the staff and pupils
  • Arranging interventions and clubs
  • Supporting teachers when liaising with parents
  • Developing procedures to increase parental links
  • Disseminating key messages from leadership meetings to the members of the phase
  • General day to day management of the phase
  • Overseeing the attainment of children with English as an Additional Language across the school
  • Being the subject leader for French across school
