Receptionist/Administrative Assistant job summary

Story Wood School are seeking to appoint a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to join our vibrant admin team. We are looking for an employee with admin experience, preferably within a school environment but other areas would be considered.

From 1st October 2024 Story Wood School were proud to officially become part of the Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust.

As a school receptionist/administrative assistant, you will be responsible for managing various tasks within the school. You will work closely with the senior office manager, senior leadership team, teachers, support staff, and governors to ensure the smooth running of the school. You will also be the first point of contact for all visitors, phone calls, and enquiries.

Other duties may include;

  • Update and maintain records, databases, and files using computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Arbor, Access, Free School Meal Checker, Parent Pay Send and receive letters, emails, and deliveries
  • Follow the school policies and procedures regarding health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection
  • Help maintain general order in the school
  • Communicate with parents, regulatory bodies, and the public

What you'll need to succeed;

  • Ideally, previous experience in a school or office environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
  • Working knowledge of Arbor or other school management systems (desirable but not essential as training will be given)
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
