Receptionist /Administrator job summary
Avenue Centre for Education (ACE) is an inclusive and innovative KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students in Luton. ACE has a model of working which is based on the Journey of the Child and commits to personalised, destination-focused contracts of education for all referred students whether they are at risk of exclusion or excluded from mainstream school.
The work at ACE is broadly aimed in providing a curriculum and learning environment that allows students to rebuild their education and successfully return to and sustain, a place in mainstream schools or achieve a post 16 destination of choice. Significant emphasis is placed on working in partnership with families, partner schools, alternative provisions and external professionals, to develop an individual approach for every student which supports their success
Start Date: 1st November 2024 Hours: 35 hours per week term time plus 1 week.
Job Type: Permanent Salary Grade: Luton NJC L2 – L3 (FTE £23,114 to 24,702 PA) The salary will be pro rata plus pension benefits. National pay award pending.

Avenue Centre for Education are looking to appoint an experienced, supportive and adaptable individual to take on the role of Administrator/Receptionist. The working hours will be 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday), term time only plus 1 week (INSET days). ACE would like to remain flexible and is willing to negotiate the working hours with the successful candidate.
The ideal candidate will ideally have school reception/administration experience. Candidates must be energetic, enthusiastic, patient and have the ability to work as part of a team.
You should also have excellent IT skills, be well organised and have a professional approach and attitude to work.
Details of the role will include but not limited to:
Providing comprehensive administrative support across all school departments.
Providing reception desk duties.
Serving as the primary contact for parents/carers and visitors.
The ideal candidate will have:
- High level of confidentiality and discretion
- Proficiency in ICT (email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with Arbor is desirable but not essential).
- Experience with confidential work and be up to date with their GDPR knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Child Protection and safeguarding procedures.
- Previous school office experience (desirable).
- First Aid experience (desirable as training will be provided)
- Ability to work under pressure, handle interruptions, and work independently with initiative
