Receptionist job summary
Permanent
– 37 hours per week (Hours: 09.00-17.00 Monday to Thursday with ½ hour unpaid
for lunch & 09.30 to 17.00 on a Friday with ½ hour unpaid for lunch), Term
Time plus 1 week (Including 5 Training Days) - 0.8888 FTE.
We
are looking for a full-time, term time (plus 1 week) receptionist to join our
supportive team at Houstone School. The successful applicant will be flexible, hardworking,
and willing to go the extra mile.
We
are looking for the successful applicant to start in January 2024.
The role will include:
To ensure a full and professional reception service is provided on behalf of the school & administer first aid within the school.
To be the first point of contact for the school. To ensure the efficient operation of Reception and Pupil Reception
To provide an appropriate professional and helpful response to telephone enquiries and re-direct as necessary, taking accurate messages and distributing to appropriate members of staff
To deal with general face-to-face enquiries, welcome visitors and issue passes, ensuring the signing in/out system is maintained and safeguarding procedures are rigorously adhered to
To book pupils in and out of school after morning registration has closed, as and when necessary
To receive mail and distribute to appropriate members of staff, to include the receipt of all deliveries of goods, check for correctness against delivery notes, and distribute to appropriate member of staff. Arrange for all paperwork to be passed to Finance Department, reporting any discrepancies immediately
Leading and assisting with pupil first aid, looking after unwell/injured pupils, liaising with parents/staff etc. Keep the medical room book and accident records up to date, alerting the Business Support Officer when an investigation into an incident needs to be carried out
Supporting the smooth running of the school day with the general administration of the Houstone School
Working under your own initiative to ensure workload is prioritised and efficiently completed
Undertaking such other duties which lie within the post holders competence and contribute to the learning environment within the school, which may be required from time to time

in September 2022, we opened with pupils in Year 7-10, and from September 2023
we have pupils in all year groups.
