What skills and experience we're looking for
The aim of the ReconnectEd coaching programme is to strengthen the wellbeing and resilience of young people facing adversity so that they can flourish within mainstream school. Brigantia and ReconnectEd are therefore looking for committed and passionate values-led coaches to support young people through an innovative and pioneering programme. As a ReconnectEd Coach you will work directly with the young people, their families and the school community as well as the ReconnectEd and Brigantia team to deliver a trauma-informed coaching programme.
If you are someone who genuinely wants to make a difference to the lives of young people and can build strong relationships with young people facing adversity, then this role is right for you. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have similar lived experiences to the young people they will be supporting. You will be fully supported in providing intensive support to young people and their families and you will be embedded within the Yewlands Academy community, meeting with the young people daily during term-time. This in-depth approach will allow you to build strong and meaningful relationships with the young people and their families over the long-term. Working within the Yewlands Academy community will ensure you are able to have a joined-up approach to working with the young people, their families and their school.
What the school offers its staff
Training: As well as having the opportunity to really
make a difference to the lives of the young people you are supporting, you will
also receive intensive training and ongoing support and development
opportunities. As well as statutory training on Safeguarding, you will also
receive Trauma-Informed practice and coaching theory training, emotion coaching
training, and training on online wellbeing assessment tools. As well as the
supervision and support you will receive from Yewlands Academy, you will also
receive independent group supervision. The wellbeing and development of
ReconnectEd coaches is paramount.
Further support: You will be employed by Brigantia Learning Trust and based at Yewlands Academy. You will also be supported by the ReconnectEd team who are match funding the coaches and working in close partnership with Brigantia and the Yewlands community. ReconnectEd’s values of Connection, Openness, Integrity, Optimism and Compassion are at the heart of the coaching programme.
Further details about the role
The role will be varied and no one day will ever be the same as a ReconnectEd Coach; one day you may be carrying out a home visit to build relationships with the family, the next you’ll be carrying out a 1:1 coaching session in school, and the next you may be involved in a safeguarding meeting at the school.
Purpose of the role: The aim of ReconnectEd’s coaching programme is to help to interrupt the potential negative consequences of trauma and deprivation, in turn acting as a bridge to reconnect young people facing adversity to positively engage with school, home and their communities. The aim is for this increased engagement to lead to better attainment and ultimately better life chances. By doing so, you will be creating a positive ripple effect on the young people’s peers, their families and their school community.
