POST:                                 Residential Activities and Child Care Officer

SALARY:                           SENDAT Support Staff Pay Scale SP 8 - 12

                                               £22,777 - £25,878 FTE (Full time equivalent)   

                                               Salary pro-rated depending on number of days worked                                            

LOCATION:                   Chalk Hill Academy, Cats Lane, Great Conard, Sudbury, Suffolk CO10 2SF

CONTRACT TYPE:    Permanent

WORKING ARRNAGEMENTS:  2 to 5 days per week (negotiable split shifts available) with the possibility of additional casual hours. 39 weeks per year


Chalk Hill Academy plays a key  role within SENDAT. As an Alternative Provision Academy that offers residential placements Chalk Hill is unique, and Ofsted has judged its residential provision to be Good on their last two inspections. Chalk Hill Academy has space for 12 residential boys and 18 day boys with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, aged between 8 and 14 years old.

Chalk Hill Academy is on an exciting journey of rapid investment, growth and development, as part of the Local Authority’s and SENDAT’s vision and strategy for SEND provision in Suffolk.

We are looking for two enthusiastic and dedicated workers to join our Team and we can offer a variety of flexible working options.

It is essential that you:

Have a good standard of English and Maths (GCSE grade 5 or equivalent) and basic computer skillsCommunicate effectively with adults and young peopleAre a dedicated and positive team playerRemain calm under pressureAre keen to learn and able to work on your own initiativeAre reliable, co-operative, flexible and enthusiastic.

Hours of work

The Residential teams work on a rota basis with variable start and finish times -

·      Monday to Friday: Split shifts, hours variable between 07:00 – 10:30 / 14:30-22:00

·      Plus sleep-in on a rota basis

Flexible working welcomed:

-       Would you like to work every morning 07:00 to 10.30  (17.5 hours per week)

-       Would you like to work every afternoon-evening 14.30 to 18:00  4 days per week. (14 hours per week)

-       would you like to work every evening 18:00 to 22:00 4 days per week (16 hours per week)

-       Would you like to suggest some other flexible working pattern?
