Residential Support Worker job summary

The Students who attend Loxley Hall come from across Staffordshire and have Education Health Care Plans for Special Educational Needs for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties with resulting behavioural problems. Our aim at Loxley Hall School is to make our Residential students feel safe, wanted and listened to. We are seeking someone who has patience, a sense of humour, energy and wants to create positive experiences for the students who stay.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our outstanding provision. Some of the students stay over in our Residential provision at the end of the school day during the week. The job will be varied and will include:

Supporting young people to have fun, trust adults, make friends and develop their self-confidence.

Maintaining a safe, secure and pleasant environment for the young people to live in during the week.

Working with other staff in offering evening activities both onsite and in the local community.

The role includes working 3 x evenings per week in the Residential Educational provision and this will include at least 1 x sleep in per week which is paid additionally to the advertised salary. (Rota example at bottom of page)

Helping to prepare meals.

1 x day per week supporting in the school day. No previous experience of working in a school environment required.

Leading by example and being a good role model.

Keeping up to date observations and records and feeding back to parents and guardians as part of key working requirements.

We will provide essential training as part of our staff development programme will also work with the successful candidate to provide further training opportunities in line with their career aspirations. This role also includes not working weekends and during the school holidays and it is whole year pay.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to support our young residents in both onsite evening activities and community engagement. You will serve as a keyworker, building trusting relationships with the children in our care, ensuring their well-being and personal development.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing and participating in fun and educational activities, preparing nutritious meals, and completing sleep-in duties as required. A valid driving licence is essential, as you will be responsible for transporting children in our school vehicles. Additionally, you will assist in completing essential administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.
