Resources Technician, Administrator and Librarian job summary
Summary of Roles
Technicians play a vital role in the provision of high-quality teaching and learning in schools, from looking after specific equipment to helping staff to ensure that lessons are resourced effectively so that students can achieve their potential.*
As librarian you will work closely with teachers from all faculties to ensure the library contributes effectively to the delivery of the curriculum and high educational outcomes. You will create and implement a strategic plan, identifying priorities and targets for ensuring that students achieve high standards and make progress, increasing teachers' effectiveness to secure school improvement.
As an administrator, you will complete administration tasks as requested and assist in covering reception when required.
Working conditions are varied, with some working on their own and others working as part of a team. Technicians take on a wide range of tasks at work, which usually include some of the following*
Main duties and responsibilities:
This role will primarily support the staff and students working in and around information, resource and copying, this could be for any of our subjects, faculties or general administration.
These roles play a huge role in supporting high quality teaching and learning to occur inside and outside of the classroom environments and are key to students achieving the highest possible sense of achievement.
Duties and responsibilities include;
Maintaining, cleaning and storing equipment within the resources area
Copying and arranging tasks at teachers request
Stocktaking of resource materials and resources
Ordering and prioritising material and equipment costs
Preparing and compiling external promotional communications
Preparing and compiling the school newsletter
Proof reading of communications
Giving technical help to students and staff, where appropriate
Discussing equipment and consumables requirements with internal staff and external representatives.
Carrying out invoicing and preparation of quotes for internal and external printing.
Typing, word processing, filing, duplicating and photocopying
Ensuring that staff and students are identifiable through photography and creation of ID cards
Photographing of events for publication purposes
Production and designing of college display materials
Maintaining an up to date knowledge of working practices specific to their role
Preparing resources for college open events
Provide administration support for trips with Evolve
Work on reception for part of your role
Perform general administration tasks for the College
Any other appropriate task, directed by their line lead or the Principal

As librarian you will:
Working closely with senior leaders, to ensure that the vision and cooperative values are effective and pertinent to all aspects of college life. These include (not exhaustive):
Overall responsibility for the management of the College library.
Selecting, acquiring, purchasing, organising, advising on, and promoting learning resources which support the curriculum, learning and teaching in consultation with curriculum leaders and teachers.
To collaborate with teaching staff in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of relevant learning and study skills programmes in the library to support high educational outcomes.
To open the library at break-time and lunch-time.
To promote the use of the library to the College community and foster an atmosphere which is conductive to positive learning experiences for users of the service. This will include ensuring a high standard of display and promotional material is available.
To encourage the active participation of teachers and students in accessing all the facilities and resources available through the College’s Learning Resource Centre, including project work with Academic Directors whenever possible.
To monitor educational materials for use in school to identify examples of racial discrimination and other inappropriate material.
To supervise and train staff in the use of the library and how it can most effectively support high educational outcomes.
To develop and maintain links with external agencies and sources to maximise the use of appropriate materials and information for the library resource centre, including the community’s public library service, wider public libraries, museums, local colleges, community learning services and other local authorities.
To act as responsible budget holder and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the library service, to implement changes where necessary.
Researching and purchase new texts to keep the library current and reading material exciting.
To take responsibility for personal and professional development in keeping up to date with new facilities and technologies relevant to the role of the Librarian and Learning Leader role.
Student services in the Library
To promote a love of reading to students to support the curriculum towards achieving high educational outcomes. This will include (not exhaustive):
Responsibility for the supervision and management of the behaviour of students and to have responsibility for student health and safety in the Library.
Training of student librarians, including the allocation and supervision of clearly defined duties.
Monitoring pupils’ reading activity and habits to accurately record achievement / rewards according to agreed procedures.
To participate in primary/secondary school liaison initiatives including the development of transition library sessions in the summer term with year 5 and year 6 pupils from local primary schools.

Training Details:
Location: Central Head Office (Wardhayes) 8 Simmons Way, Okehampton, EX20 1PY
Purpose: To provide comprehensive training on company policies, procedures, and systems necessary for successful integration into the role.
Training Schedule: Daily sessions from 9am to 4pm, with breaks provided.
