What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic people to work with our young people.
The Safeguarding Officer will be working under the guidance of our Safeguarding Lead who has developed safeguarding to be the “rod of iron running through the school.” (Ofsted) You will learn a huge amount from her.
We are looking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer and would welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds and work experiences.
The role will require you to be investigative, empathetic, supportive and have an eye for detail – with a sense of humour and some common sense.
You will need to have excellent language skills both written and oral.
We are looking for potential applicants to be able to show experience of safeguarding practices.
What the school offers its staff
We offer a full professional development package to further develop skills, for example in enhanced behaviour management techniques through Team Teach.
We are determined to provide progression routes for our non-teaching staff in school and as such you will receive excellent training and a development coach.
Further details about the role
Safeguarding permeates the entire school whether we are noticing small changes in behaviour to attending Child Protection meetings. We are rightly proud of the support beyond the classroom we provide for pupils and their families – home visits are integral in what we do and give us a clear picture of the family dynamic.
We are looking for potential applicants to be able to show experience of safeguarding practices. If you are interested into developing into such a role you may be interested in our Teaching Assistant roles.
Main responsibilities include:
• to be a dependable, consistent person for our children
• to be a visible and supportive presence in school
• to liaise with home, school and external agencies
• to be vigilant of safeguarding concerns and report them
We are a multi-site school, therefore holding a driving licence would be advantageous.
Our salaries are some of the best in the city. You will also have 11 weeks holiday.
What’s not to love – great salary, great holidays and great children! Come and join
Commitment to safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

All our children have been permanently excluded from mainstream school. Some children are reintegrated back to mainstream. Young people come to us with unmet Special Educational Needs and in some cases a full assessment of need is carried out resulting in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
We feel we are the most important school in Sheffield with some of the most vulnerable and at the same time vibrant children in the city. Many of our children have unsettled home lives and mental health difficulties. Therefore, it is important to role model behaviour and always show children unconditional positive regard.
Everything we do is based on relationships and building trust.
Our children have not had the best start to their young lives in education so we need to help them become ready to learn and then to accelerate their learning so we provide a brighter future with improved life chances.
