Safeguarding Officer job summary
Aston Community Education Trust are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and effective Safeguarding Officer, who will provide pastoral support specifically fulfilling the duties associated to safeguarding and child protection. The Safeguarding Officer will play a leading role, alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead, the Pastoral Team and in liaison with external agencies, in keeping all students safe and protected from harm or neglect.
The successful candidate will:
To keep up to date with changes to legislation and initiatives in relation to safeguarding of young people, supporting the DSL in maintaining up to date policy and guidance docs. To manage and identify caseloads of students who are subject to Child Protection, Child In Need plans or open to external agencies.
To ensure students flourish within the school environment and achieve their potential.
To communicate effectively and attend key meetings in relation to students, parents, staff and outside agencies.
To support all staff in meeting the highest standards in relation to safeguarding practice.
You will be based at Swinton Academy, however the role may, on occasion, involve working at other academies within the trust.

Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration related to their criminal record or any information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Additional checks in relation to the Childcare Disqualification Regulations will be undertaken for successful candidates to junior academies. If you have lived or worked outside of the UK, additional information may be required from you to satisfy safer recruitment checks.
