School Caretaker job summary

Job Overview: We are seeking a reliable and dedicated School Caretaker to join our school team. The caretaker will play an essential role in the safe running of the School, ensuring that daily tasks are completed, the site is tidy and secure and equipment is safe to use.

Role and Responsibilities

• Opening the school premises on a daily basis
• Ensure the school premises are clean, safe and well-maintained
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs
• Porterage tasks to ensure resources are deployed appropriately
• Oversee security of the school buildings and grounds
• Manage waste disposal and recycling
• Support with setting up for school events and activities
• Liaise with external contractors when necessary

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
• Good practical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for students and staff

This role is for 20 hours per week and for 43 weeks per year (school term time plus 5 weeks worked during the school holidays). Exact working pattern to be agreed on appointment.
