School Games Organiser job summary
Required for an immediate start. The Governors of this outstanding, high achieving and oversubscribed Catholic Voluntary Academy wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated School Games Organiser. This unique role focuses on the delivery and management of the dual programme for both School Games Organiser and the North West Leeds Active Schools Sports Partnership (LCC). It is an autonomous role, which requires strong organisational skills, self-motivation and excellent communications skills. Although based at St Mary’s in Menston the role requires travelling to a number of primary schools. The focus is to implement, support and deliver a successful calendar of School Games and Active Schools activities.
The Youth Sport Trust equips educators and empowers young people with the vision of creating a future where every child enjoys the life-changing benefits of play and sport. The Leeds North West School Sport Partnership (SSP) was launched in 2000. Taking the area lead in delivering the Government's strategy for sport, most recently labelled the 'School Games' through the provision of extra-curricular PE, and sporting opportunities for pupils aged 6–18.
The post holder will ensure that competitions locally link to and support an emerging framework for competitive school sport. Stakeholder engagement is key to the success of this role, which requires significant partnership working with a range of local agencies involved in running and supporting school sport competitions, events and leadership and volunteering opportunities.
A large focus of the SSP is to develop, manage and co-ordinate primary and secondary inter and intra school sport competitions. A wide range of inclusive, alternative and traditional competitions are provided to engage all pupils. The performance events provide the start of the pathway to district, county and national level school competitions.
