School Improvement Advisor (Special Schools) job summary

We are a mixed multi-academy Trust with seven schools (five special and two mainstream primary schools) based in Gloucestershire.

About you

As a School Improvement Advisor for Special Schools, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the quality of education across the Trust’s special schools. You will provide expert advice, guidance, and support to school leaders, ensuring the continuous improvement of teaching, learning, and leadership. Your role will contribute to raising standards and improving outcomes for all pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role

You will be responsible for leading and driving school improvement initiatives, working closely with school leaders to implement strategies that enhance educational standards. Your work will focus on evaluating school performance, identifying areas for development, and supporting the implementation of effective interventions. You will also collaborate with senior leadership teams to embed best practices and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including SEND legislation.

A strong background in school improvement, leadership, and teaching within a special education setting is essential for this role. You will have significant experience in school leadership, either as a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, or within a school advisory role. A thorough understanding of national education policies, curriculum development, Ofsted frameworks, and SEND best practices is essential.
