Kelvin Hall School is looking for academic tutors in Maths, English, Science, History and Modern Foreign Languages to support our students.

About Us

Kelvin Hall School is part of the Thrive Cooperative Learning Trust which was formed in September 2016 and is now responsible for 9 schools across Hull, 2 secondary and 7 primary schools. We are a very successful 11-16 mixed comprehensive school with approximately 1550 students on roll. We are a popular first choice of school for families in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and are a very successful school academically.

We are looking to appoint outstanding tutors to deliver our ‘School-Led Tutoring’ in any of the five EBacc subjects from above, starting as soon as possible. We are seeking tutors to work face-to-face with students to support catch-up interventions across Years 7 – 11 to aid students who have suffered and fallen behind due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, through the government funded ‘School-Led Tuition’ programme.

Main Areas of Responsibility

We are seeking Tutors to work face-to-face with students to support catch up interventions across Y7 – Y11 and additionally:
- To liaise and collaborate with relevant Subject Leads regarding which modules from the subject curriculum are to be delivered.
- To prepare and deliver in-person lessons in small groups of no more than 3 students.
- To support students to catch-up by teaching students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of formative and summative assessments.
- To provide comprehensive feedback for each student.
- To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
- To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students which meets internal and external quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Kelvin Hall School is looking for committed tutors to support, develop and implement our strategies for working with students and families to overcome barriers to learning. We are looking for applicants who believe in building strong relationships with students and are willing to go the extra mile to support them in being successful.

It is desirable that applicants should possess one or more of the following:
- Secondary school experience teaching to GCSE level.
- An A-Level qualification in their subject or a related degree Subject.
- Experience in supporting secondary age students in academic study.
- Willingness to complete a guided training programme to enhance curriculum knowledge.

Tutors may be trainee teachers, qualified teachers or non-practising (or retired) teachers or tutors with a strong academic background which may include higher education or university students.
