SCHOOL MATRON / FIRST AID OFFICER job summary
The Role
We are looking for a healthcare professional to provide first aid and medical treatment for students and staff, as and when required, and to maintain appropriate records. This is a wonderful opportunity to care for our students in a warm and vibrant community. Overseen by our Senior Assistant Head, the School Matron will be responsible for all aspects of medical care.
The key responsibilities of the post will include dealing with accidents and minor illnesses or injuries of students and staff, arranging boosters and vaccinations, and liaising with the teaching staff and parents about individual or general health issues and writing care plans. The suitably qualified, successful candidate should have experience of working with children and/or have a background in primary care. The First Aid at Work qualification is required for this role, training can be arranged.
You should be willing to contribute to staff training on appropriate medical actions and support the pastoral team in matters related to health education. In addition, you will administer visits by the school nurse and other health practitioners and will be responsible for the storage and administration of medicines, maintaining medical supplies around the school and the online school uniform shop.

The Medical Room/Suite
The medical room is a spacious area equipped with a toilet, medicines fridge and medical couch. The medical room is in the main school building, near Reception.
Back up medical support is available in school from trained First Aiders.
