About TDET
Thomas Deacon Education Trust is a charitable organisation dedicated to raising educational outcomes across a range of primary and secondary phase schools and academies in the East Midlands. As a newly formed multi-academy trust we strive to provide outstanding teaching and learning for all and an ethos and culture that encourages everyone to be the very best that they can be.
We put learners, and their learning, at the heart of everything we do.
Gladstone Primary Academy
Gladstone Primary Academy is a multicultural primary school near the centre of Peterborough. The school is situated across two sites a few minutes’ walk apart, one on Gladstone Street (reception and KS1) and the other on Bourges Boulevard (KS2). Having two sites gives Gladstone Primary Academy excellent facilities, including a 4G pitch, learning centre, halls and computer rooms.
The Role
Gladstone Primary Academy is looking to recruit a School Streets Assistant to join their passionate and enthusiastic team on a part time fixed term contract until 31st August 2024.
As a School Streets Assistant at Gladstone Primary, your primary goal is to contribute to creating a safe and pleasant environment during the start and end of the school day. A school street is a road near a school with restricted access to vehicles at drop-off and pick-up times. The restricted area is also called a school safety zone. School streets allow children to safely walk, cycle and scoot into school. Reducing vehicle journeys is important for improving air quality, climate change and pedestrian safety.
You will work closely with members of the academy’s senior leadership team and site officer to manage the school safety zone.
As the role requires presence during peak school drop-off and pick-up times, we can offer a free space at Breakfast Club should the successful candidate have children that attend Gladstone Primary Academy.
The Person
You will:
Have a basic knowledge and understanding of traffic management and road safety principles, as well as the highway code.
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situation tactfully
Have good timekeeping skills
Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
The Trust offers:
Excellent salary package.
Fantastic training/CPD opportunities in a friendly supportive environment.
Opportunity for progression across Thomas Deacon Education Trust.
Local Government pension scheme.
An engaging, creative and welcoming environment to learners who take pride in their school.
An inclusive and collaborative approach.
A talented, highly motivated, committed and professional team of colleagues, both within the school and across the trust.
An actively supportive Local Governing Body and Trust leadership.
Thomas Deacon Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
