Joseph Norton Academy in Huddersfield is a special academy educating children and young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties across Kirklees. THE ROLE
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive School Transport Driver. As transport technician/driver you will take responsibility for in-school transportation service for pupils and pupil groups to and from educational provisions and staff for welfare checks as required. In addition you will oversee the safe operation and maintenance of school minibuses and other vehicles.

Main duties of the job

  • Transport pupils, groups of pupils, parents, staff and other stakeholders according to a set daily schedule and throughout the school day

  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and other stakeholders to establish and maintain good working relationships, encourage good attendance and support children during times of crisis

  • Operate school vehicles in a safe and efficient way in line with all relevant laws, legislation, policies and procedures

  • Reporting issues in a timely manner so they can be rectified promptly

  • Undertake and use, when necessary, emergency first aid training

  • Monitor and manage risk

THE CANDIDATE

  • Full, clean driving licence.

  • MIDAS minibus training (or willingness to undertake).

  • Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs.

  • Highway and school bus regulations.

  • Ability to operate school vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Reliable, flexible for needs of the role

  • Willing to train and offer emergency first aid.
