Science Lead Practitioner & Trust Lead job summary
This could not be a more exciting time to lead within the St Mark's family. Following our full graded Ofsted inspection in May 2024, St Mark’s CoE Academy achieved an Outstanding judgment in all areas of the framework. During the inspection, “pupils said the school’s values of Love, Hope and Trust are ‘not just words’ but are demonstrated by all members of the community.” Inspectors also reported that “working relationships between staff and pupils are warm, caring and respectful. This means that pupils behave exceptionally well and are very happy and safe.”
Outcomes at the Academy at Key Stage 4 are in the top 8% of all schools nationally with a Progress 8 Score of +0.71. In 2024 an impressive 68% of all A Levels were awarded A*-B grades, 92% A*-C grades and 30% of students securing a place at a Russell Group University. St Mark’s Value Added was +0.88, placing us as the second highest performing state Sixth Form in the country. If you believe you can uphold these exceptional standards, we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking to recruit an influential and highly experience strategic lead teacher for this hybrid opportunity, as a Lead Teacher of Science within the Academy and across the Trust wide Science teams. The candidate will coach and develop teachers in the ‘Anthem Way’ pedagogy and contribute to the implementation of an enriching curriculum offer.
In addition to teaching at St Marks, the successful candidate would spend a proportion of their time supporting the other three secondary schools in our trust. We are embarking upon an ambitious project to autonomously align the curriculum across our four schools and the successful candidate would be instrumental in bringing this vision to life as well as coaching HODs and improving pedagogy across the trust. You would also chair our SCP for secondary Science (Subject Community of Practice) which focuses on raising standards and curriculum development in science.
We are looking for a colleague who can build relationships and leading rapid change across four geographically distanced schools. There will be some opportunity to travel and perhaps longer term, for the right candidate to be involved in our primary science curriculum development.
In return St Mark’s can offer colleagues;
Competitive salaries on Teachers Inner London Pay Range
Pension schemes - TPS (Teachers) and LGPS (Non-Teachers)
