If so, join our Short-Term Provision Team! We are seeking a talented individual who can offer science teaching. This role is a combination of remote and face to face teaching and, providing guidance to our support tutors to help Young People to overcome barriers and achieve their dreams.

As the science teacher in Short Term Provision you will have excellent subject and pedagogical knowledge. You will direct support tutors and work with the wider team to ensure young people still have access to learning and don’t fall behind their peers. Many of our young people have gaps in their education, you will need to have a creative approach to teaching to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our young people to access learning and make expected progress.

We are looking for resilient and dynamic teacher who can inspire and support young people to thrive. You should be able to develop and support the needs of the whole child and be committed to enabling all young people to achieve their potential. You must demonstrate tenacity coupled with experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 Science. You should have QTS and a track record as a consistently good/outstanding practitioner.

You should be passionate about developing and supporting the needs of the whole child and committed to enabling all Young People to achieve their potential. Experience of working with children with SEND or medical conditions are essential. You must be willing to work across all our centres and have full clean driving licence.


What the school offers its staff

james Brindley is a stand-alone academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of Birmingham. In the course of a school year we educate over 3,000 young people for periods ranging from a few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres. The majority of our Young People have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period of time prior to joining the school. We offer a full-time curriculum to young people from EYFS to KS5 and our aim is always to enable them to ‘close the gap’ and to exceed expected progress during the time they are with us. James Brindley Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this. Please be aware that this post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check and any offer of employment is made conditional of this. You will also be required to register and pay for the DBS update service and ensure that documentary evidence is produced to ensure annual compliance and updates. You will also be required to provide written consent for the employer to access this information at any time.This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
