Science Teacher, 1.0FTE, permanent job summary
Required from April 2020 onwards
Plymouth CAST Multi-Academy Trust is seeking a committed and aspirational teacher to join their Science team within their secondary schools (Notre Dame Plymouth and St. Boniface’s Catholic College). Successful candidates will embrace our ethos, contribute to school improvement plans and raising standards in Science, working hard to help students make good progress and spread a passion for Science and promote STEM career pathways.
Applications from experienced and newly qualified teachers will be equally valued.
The successful candidate will be a general scientist, however there may be opportunity to deliver specialist teaching to exam groups. You will be able to inspire, enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge students to raise achievement at all levels within a culture of high expectations of both staff and students.
We expect successful applicants to show within their application, and at interview, their passion for working with young people and be able to explain how they will embrace and support the Trust’s ethos.
Both secondary schools are Roman Catholic, comprehensive, single-sex schools (Notre Dame – girls, St Boniface’s – boys) with a mixed sixth form at Notre Dame. We value our Catholic ethos, but you don’t need to be a Catholic to apply to work for either school. We ask that our staff are comfortable in this environment and support our ethos and Christian attitudes.
In addition to this post, there may be other teaching opportunities available on a fixed-term contract. More information will be provided at interview.
If you feel you have the qualities we are looking for, please email Mrs Samantha Bailey, HR Manager, at sbailey@ndonline.org to arrange an informal visit, or for information about the department.
Applications can be found below and should be submitted for the attention of the Headteacher by the closing date stated below.
These can be submitted electronically to hr@ndonline.org and applicants may type their name in lieu of signatures for declarations. Applicants invited to interview will be able to hand sign their applications.
The school operates a Safeguarding Children Recruitment Policy and is committed to promoting the welfare of young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
