What skills and experience we're looking for
About the role
You will be joining a Science department that aims to provide students with a varied and stimulating curriculum that encourages students to be inquisitive and independent thinkers. Our aim is not only to help students achieve great outcomes but to spark their interest and engagement so that they have the qualifications and desire to pursue further study in Science. For those students who pursue other passions in life we aim to equip them with the powerful knowledge to understand and question references to Science that occur in their daily lives. Teachers with the faculty work in a collaborative way, and as a result we have high standards of Teaching and Learning, subject knowledge and curriculum knowledge within our team.
About you
The ability to teach any Science to GCSE level is essential. You will have excellent communication skills and be proficient using presentation software to help deliver lessons. You will ensure equality of opportunity, irrespective of starting points, to enable all learners to make good progress. You will also be personable and approachable and be able to quickly build effective relationships with students, and colleagues in the School and across the Trust. Importantly, you will be a positive role model for all students.

Everything at Mangotsfield School is based around its school
values driven by Headteacher, Hetty Blackmore. Having first
joined the school as a newly qualified teacher when she was
23 years old and returned to lead it later in her career, she is
very proud of the journey the school is on.
Mangotsfield School is proud to serve its community and has
been part of the local community since 1957. They have just
celebrated being rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (visit
March 2022).
There are wonderful resources and facilities on site, allowing
students to embrace curricular and extra-curricular
challenges from DT, art, dance, drama and a climbing wall to
name a few. There is a lot of open space, which is green and
calm. And this sense of calm is echoed in the school itself.
The school has a proud sporting history and teams have
travelled as far as Wembley to take part in national
competitions. The school is also on a mission to broaden
horizons with many co-curricular trips taking place, such as a
Year 7 trip to Slimbridge Wetlands for art research and a
Year 8 trip to Tyntesfield House to explore gothic horror
within the English curriculum.
