What skills and experience we're looking for
The Arnewood Science department is a vibrant and dedicated team who work closely together to deliver an exciting and challenging curriculum to develop and inspire ambitious Scientific learners. The Science department is comprised of passionate scientists, supported by 2 specialist technicians.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated teacher of Science to join our Department and teach the subject at Key Stage 3-4. An ability to teach Chemistry at A-level would be desirable. You will be working in a very cohesive and supportive department that is committed to providing an innovative and high-quality science education for all our pupils. We are a strong team that is motivated to achieve positive pupil experiences and outcomes and has a strong history of providing STEM opportunities for students. Students regularly go on to study science subjects at university.
At GCSE, we teach both AQA Combined Trilogy and AQA Separate Science courses. A-level courses are run in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to attend CPD workshops run locally, regionally and nationally, allowing them to continue to develop their own subject understanding and to further advance their teaching and learning expertise.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for you to gain experience in teaching across all age levels and abilities as part of the core curriculum, including teaching students in the Sixth Form.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Chemistry at Key Stage 5.
