What is great about being an employee at Greig City Academy?
GCA staff work hard to ensure that students are challenged and stimulated and they are keen to work with new colleagues who are just as enthusiastic as they are about passing on a love of learning. They will inspire and challenge you but, in turn, they will welcome the ideas you bring for departmental and school improvement.

You will be encouraged to lead on projects in and out of the classroom and your efforts will always be recognised and appreciated. All our staff run at least one extra-curricular activity. We have been designated the Haringey STEM innovation hub in recognition of the wide range of projects we deliver in this area including robotics, rocketry, coding and electric car racing. Sports, drama, music, art, community action, public speaking, enterprise and animation also feature strongly and we are keen to develop new activities for our very enthusiastic students and are keen to know your ideas.

Outdoor education and Duke of Edinburgh Award programmes are strengths of the school and an exciting, well-established activity is sailing - on our very own fleet. Staff say these programmes give them a great opportunity to get to know students better as well as a chance to develop their own leadership skills.

We are committed to developing staff both professionally and personally and you will find managers responsive to your opinions as to how this can best be achieved. There are lots of opportunities to share good practice, for example our Teaching and Learning Café, where you can present your ideas on the topic of the week and listen to the ideas of your colleagues.

If you are a newly qualified teacher, GCA offers the perfect environment to start your teaching career, with:
- A comprehensive induction programme
- Reduced timetable
- Supportive teams and a great working environment with high staff retention
- Tailored CPD to suit the individual
- Internal opportunities for upward progression
- Lots of support with your allocated subject mentor
- Staff social events and events to help you settle in
- GCA allowance to enhance your CPD
- Lesson observations to view good practice
- Weekly BT and NQT meetings
- Protected time in the school day to meet with mentors

Your well-being is important to us. We aim to help you to achieve a positive work-life balance. We do this by tailoring our approach to the individual so we welcome your ideas as to how we can best support you.

Of course, we know that you enjoy working with young people and want to make a difference to their lives. We will give you the best possible chance to do so.

We could say a lot more but we think the best way for you to get a feel for what it would be like to work for GCA is to pay us a visit. Viv Oxley, PA, HR and Administration Manager, is happy to arrange for you to talk to students and staff so do email her on if this is of interest to you.
