Outwood Academy Normanby, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our Science Department. This is a permanent Regional Outwood contract, initially starting at Normanby to cover a period of maternity leave: which will likely run from September 2024 to Summer 2025. If there isn’t curriculum demand in Science at Normanby in Sept 2025, the appointee will then be deployed into another Outwood Academy within the Region – consisting of Ormesby, Redcar, Bydales, Riverside, Acklam and Bishopsgarth. We would hope that from September 2025, we will be able to, in negotiation with the appointee, fix a permanent base for teaching employment.

Our Science department at Normanby is a young, enthusiastic, supportive team who are keen to instil a love of learning within our students and strive for constant improvement. Each member of our department works collaboratively to produce good teaching and learning resources to reduce your workload and allow you to have the utmost confidence when teaching outside of your specialism.

If you join our team you will be teaching in your own laboratory which is fully equipped with your own specialised equipment and managed by our two experienced technicians who will help you make all of your lessons engaging and exciting.

We would love to hear from teachers interested in creating a warm, interesting and inclusive learning environment, where students feel safe and inspired. Are you dedicated, with a sense of humour? Are you keen to work with a team on planning great learning experiences and contributing to a culture of improvement and development? Our academy is the place for you!

The right candidate will be able to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘Students First Raising Standards and Transforming Lives’. We positively welcome applications from all sections of the community, who love Science and have a passion to develop this in others. You could progress quickly across our Family of Schools if that was what you were looking for, through leadership or through our Deeps structure; but, if you just want to be the best Science teacher you can be, then we are also the school for you!
