Science Teacher job summary
This is a full-time, one year fixed term contract/maternity cover, commencing January 2025.
We are looking for an exceptional and enthusiastic candidate to teach Science: we will consider any of the science specialisms and you do not need to be able to teach KS5, but experience of teaching KS5 would be beneficial. You will have excellent classroom skills and a desire to teach across the age and ability range from KS3 through to KS4.
Science is a very popular subject at St George’s and recent exam results are excellent. The successful candidate should be sympathetic to the needs of all children and be equally at home with weaker students as well as the brightest.
This post will suit early career teachers, or those considering returning to the profession, who want to join a school offering very high academic standards within a supportive, traditional and disciplined environment. St George’s actively supports teachers in their professional development. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to join one of the county’s top state boarding schools.
In return we offer:
- Additional training and support
- Ongoing professional development
- Free Lunch on working days
- Use of the school’s fitness suite/Gym
- Staff Wellbeing Programme
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Free parking on school site
- As a permanent member of staff you benefit from the application being favourably ranked if you apply for a day admission place for your child at St George’s school, subject to meeting the requirements of our published Admissions Criteria and Policy
For details of the role please refer to the Application Pack and Job Description.
Applications will be shortlisted throughout the process and we may interview and close the advert early if we are in a position to recruit a suitable candidate. We therefore encourage interested candidates to apply early.

St George’s is a unique place to work. It is the perfect blend of high quality, innovative teaching and a community which cares. It has a highly supportive pastoral system as well as a residential state boarding community, all of which is firmly cemented in our Christian principles and strong commitment to our values of mutual respect, endeavour and sense of community.
