James Brindley is a stand-alone Academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of Birmingham. In the course of a school year we educate over 3,000 young people for periods ranging from a few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres. The majority of our young people have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period of time prior to joining the Academy. We offer a full-time curriculum to young people from EYFS to KS5 and our aim is always to enable them to ‘close the gap’ and to make outstanding progress during the time they are with us.
This is an excellent time to join James Brindley as the Academy continues to implement a strategic vision developed by young people, staff and other stakeholders. Join us to ‘Think Differently to inspire young people to overcome all barriers and achieve their dreams.’
The Science Teacher role involves teaching young people with medical needs who are unable to access mainstream education. Many of our young people have gaps in their education and we strive to implement creative teaching strategies to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our Young People to access learning and make expected progress.
We are looking for resilient and dynamic teachers who can inspire young people and support them to thrive. You should be able to develop and support the needs of the whole child and be committed to enabling all young people to achieve their potential. You must demonstrate tenacity coupled with experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 Science. You should have QTS and a track record as a consistently good/outstanding practitioner.
We strongly recommend that candidates take the opportunity to attend the open event on Thursday 6th October2022 4.00pm-6.00pm in order to have a better understanding of hospital teaching and working with young people with medical needs. If you are planning to attend please contact Emma Yarwood in HR on 0121 666 6409 ext 2338 or email vacancies@jamesbrindley.org.uk to confirm your attendance and to provide approximate timings.
