Science Technician job summary

The Science team at Ormiston Victory Academy is looking for a Science Technician to join our forward thinking and supportive department. The technician team are integral to supporting teaching and learning of the science curriculum in the classroom. The role involves preparing resources, constructing and modifying apparatus and carrying out appropriate safety checks. Duties also involve the preparation and delivery of demonstrations and student experiments, equipment maintenance, cleaning and stock taking. For those with more experience, we would be looking for greater supervisory responsibility within the team.

We are looking for a conscientious individual who ideally has:

  • Excellent initiative, communication and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of specialist equipment and ability to communicate and demonstrate this knowledge effectively to staff and pupils.
  • Good standard of education, with strong science knowledge
  • A willingness to undertake training and attend meetings as necessary

The post is based on working 37 hours per day for 39 weeks per year (school term time working plus 1 week), starting 4th November 2024 or earlier.
