Science Technician job summary
We are seeking a talented and committed Science Technician to work under the guidance of the Science Lead.
You will assist with the provision of technical support service across the sciences in Key Stages 3, 4 & 5. Science Technicians will be required to perform all duties in an effective manner and liaise closely with teaching staff and Senior Technicians.
This is a fabulous opportunity to take on a key support role, in a very good school, in a very strong department with excellent outcomes.
In addition, some of the key responsibilities will include:
• To support staff and students in preparing and demonstrating practical activities
• Setting up, testing and demonstrating apparatus and experiments as required
• To prepare materials for Science Teachers
• To maintain a safe working environment
• To pro-actively contribute to the development of the facilities and operation of the Science Department
• To follow CLEAPSS guidelines
• To become a member of the school’s First Aid Team
• To be a Fire Marshall supporting the school in the event of a Fire Alarm
The successful candidate will be passionate about science and student development. They will have a positive mindset outlook and revel in bringing out the very best in students while contributing to the overall ethos of the MAC.

Hagley Catholic High School is part of the Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company with five of our Catholic feeder schools. Currently our school has population of 1136 pupils aged 11 – 18 including a Sixth Form of 200. The school operates under the patronage of St Nicholas Owen and is dedicated to developing a Catholic community in which all students work towards fulfilling their potential in a safe and supportive environment.
The school is situated in Worcestershire, bordering on to West Midlands, in a semi-rural setting some twelve miles south west of Birmingham. The village of Hagley is within close proximity to the national motorway network, yet still enjoys views of the Clent Hills and beautiful surrounding countryside.
The school has a Pupil Admission Number of 190 with six forms of entry, however, we are heavily over-subscribed. The school enjoys an excellent reputation and commands a high degree of parental and parish support. Students come to Hagley mainly from Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Halesowen, Stourport-on-Severn, Bewdley and South West Birmingham.
