We are now seeking to appoint a conscientious and enthusiastic Technician to support the Science Department. This is a term time only post suitable for a trainee or experienced candidate with at least A-Level standard Science qualifications.

The main purpose of this role is to provide equipment and resources for class practical work, demonstrations, assessments and examinations and supporting teaching staff. No prior knowledge of science syllabus, curriculum and specifications is necessary since full external and on the job training will be provided

Responsibilities include:

  • carrying out preparatory work for science classes
  • clearing away apparatus, materials and equipment after use and returning items to store
  • disposing of waste (including hazardous waste) as appropriate
  • supporting teaching staff to carry out their roles especially with regard to departmental procedures, including Health & Safety issues.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of COSHH and CLEAPSS (desirable) to maintain compliance with H&S Regulations
  • A level standard Science qualification
  • Team-worker with ability to build effective working relationships with staff and pupils.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • IT Literate
  • Quick to learn, flexible and able to work effectively using own initiative
