What skills and experience we're looking for
We are currently seeking a Science Technician to support the science faculty. The main purpose of the role is to co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities to support our science teaching.
The successful candidate will
- ensure that the teaching staff are supplied with available resources in accordance with their requisitions to support students learning
- prepare equipment and chemicals before lessons and either dispose of or store equipment/ chemicals appropriately after they have been used
- maintain and repair equipment and laboratory apparatus, in accordance with appropriate training
- ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed correctly, in line with the school and departmental health and safety policy
- contribute to the development of the department as part of a dedicated team
- have a professional attitude that is open to innovative ways of working
- be committed to working in partnership with the Science team and a range of other staff
- ideally have experience of working in a school environment and have an awareness of health and safety issues relating to school science.
- be flexible and adaptable when faced with challenges
