What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful candidate will be joining a close-knit team of highly professional staff who have a broad and extensive skill set, and who continue to drive improvements in supporting students to overcome behaviour challenges and to maximise the opportunities for learning within the school. Experience of working in a school is not a prerequisite for success in the role.

Post summary:

  • To supervise the seclusion (isolation area) within school and address the needs of pupils who need help to overcome barriers to learning, including those with SEND.
  • To challenge, motivate and inspire young people to achieve their potential and help them overcome any barriers to learning, aiming to support all children to successfully reintegrate from the seclusion area to the main academy.

What the school offers its staff

Shireland CBSO Academy is an 11-18 Academy which opened in September 2023. It is the first state school in the country to have a partnership with a professional orchestra. Based in Providence Place, West Bromwich, the Academy will work in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and serve all of Sandwell and the wider West Midlands. The Academy is for all students who have a passion or talent for music – they do not necessarily need to already play an instrument.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to be part of a brand-new academy, with the potential to shape your career with us as the academy grows. We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with young people. Experience working with young people across a range of services other than education is welcome.

As part of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, we offer progression and opportunities at all levels, and a successful candidate can expect to be developed into the best practitioner they can be.
