What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner at Key stages 3 and 4.
  • Support the Head of Department in developing and leading an exciting English curriculum which will result in the highest level of pupil progress and attainment.
  • Quality assure English teaching and learning including marking, feedback and assessment at KS3.
  • Possess exceptional subject knowledge of the curriculum, assessment and pedagogical developments relating to English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Have a track record in securing top grades at GCSE.
  • Be expected to play a full part in the extra – curricular activities of this forward-thinking school.

The Academy has a unique admissions arrangement, in that it supports Catholic families but also admits 80 students from the community each year regardless of religious or denominational background. The successful candidate will work extremely closely with the school leadership to ensure that the Academy’s vision, values and strategies are coherently delivered through actions by all staff in school, and that standards of academic progress, behaviour and character are high.
