Edgar Wood Academy is now at full capacity and preparing to celebrate its first GCSE cohort this year - marking a pivotal moment in our development. We are seeking a highly skilled and aspirational English practitioner to join our team as Second in English, playing a key leadership role in raising standards and shaping the future of our thriving department.

The role:

Support the Head of English in leading and developing teaching and support staff within the department.

Lead on the development of subject knowledge across the team and promote high-quality teaching practice.

Support the Head of English in leading the development, evaluation, and refinement of the English curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Be accountable for student progress within lessons taught and for standards across the department where delegated.

Ensure assessment maps and curriculum plans are updated, coherent, and aligned with the school’s intent, implementation, and impact model.
