Second in English job summary
Outwood Academy Foxhills places students at the centre of everything it does, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.
In its most recent Ofsted inspection, January 2016, the academy was judged to be Good with Outstanding for The Effectiveness of Leadership and Management.
This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, driven professional to support the leadership of our English department in a pivotal year of its development. In 2015, 70% of students achieved A*-C in English, a significant increase on student outcomes in 2014, and we are making sustainable improvements which will continue to improve the achievements of all our students.
The successful candidate will ideally have some leadership experience and the ambition to build further capacity within a dedicated team; supporting and challenging colleagues to achieve outstanding outcomes for all students. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential, and experience of delivering WJEC specifications would be advantageous. You must be passionate about making a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.
Outwood Academy Foxhills is an 11 – 16 school occupying a modern building in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire
The Outwood Grange Family of Schools offers:
• The opportunity to work and progress across the Family of Schools;
• The chance to apply for leadership roles in the Deeps working across the whole Academy;
• The support and expertise of our Directors of English working across the Family of Schools;
• A full and detailed programme of support and development for all, and
• A further comprehensive programme of professional development provided through the Outwood Institute of Education.
