We are seeking a motivated and skilled Second in English to join our thriving English department. This permanent role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced English teacher looking to take the next step in leadership. The successful candidate will support the Head of English in driving high standards across the department and will play a key role in curriculum development, teaching and learning, and raising student achievement across KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support the Head of English in the strategic leadership of the department.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment design, and development of teaching resources.
  • Monitor and track student progress, implementing interventions where required.
  • Model excellent classroom practice and support colleagues in improving teaching and learning.
  • Lead departmental initiatives and support whole-school priorities.
  • Assist with quality assurance processes, including work scrutiny and lesson visits.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities within the English department.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
