OUR SCHOOL
Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is a state, selective, co-educational school with a strong reputation for its high academic standards and its caring and supportive ethos. The School is an accredited ‘Advanced Thinking School’ and is also the lead school of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT). We are a small, but highly ambitious trust which consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS); The Charles Dickens School (CDS) which joined BCAT on 1 March 2017 and Barton Manor School, a free school which is a 5 form entry 11-18 non-selective school with a joint Sixth Form with BCGS. Barton Manor School is co-sited to BCGS and work on developing its multi-million-pound site has just started with a view to this opening within the next 2 years.
The Post
Required for Easter or September 2020, the Governors wish to appoint a highly qualified and dynamic teacher as Second in Mathematics, to teach at Barton Court Grammar School.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to work in an Ofsted Outstanding School within a successful and forward-thinking department and would suit an experienced professional looking to further their expertise by leading, developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others and reviewing standards of teaching and learning in the subject area.
The successful candidate will also take responsibility for KS3 Mathematics, monitoring and tracking student progress, developing and maintaining schemes of work and assessments, provide evidence for the SEF and review the quality of reporting alongside other Second in Mathematics staff. You would also be expected to contibute to school activities that enrich the curriculum and students' experience of learning.
The School is committed to excellence in professional development and is looking for a committed individual who can offer outstanding teaching. The ability to teach Mathematics at GCSE is essential and at A Level desirable.

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.
It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020, and The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, which came out of special measures and was rated “Good” by Ofsted in March 2023. The Trust opened Barton Manor Free School, an 11 – 18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury and on the former Chaucer School site, in September 2022 to Year 7.
