SEMH Lead Teacher (SEN Unit) job summary
SEN Unit Lead Teacher
This is a unique opportunity to support some of the most challenging and vulnerable children within North Northamptonshire. We have the only SEND Unit for SEMH KS1 within North Northamptonshire. We work closely with our partners at Maplefields Academy to make a difference to these children who require understanding and nurture.
Woodnewton a learning community has a long established and highly regarded SEMH provision with an ethos built upon the six principles of Nurture. Since opening in 2006, hundreds of children have greatly benefited from our provision. During that time, we have only had two lead teachers who have led by example and changed the lives of many children. We have a specialised team of staff to work with the successful applicant.
We have up to eight children a day in our provision. These children are all within North Northamptonshire and have been through the Maplefields referral process.
Working in partnership with the specialist Nurture TA, the successful candidate will have the ability to motivate and inspire, break through the barriers of expectations and harness all opportunities to create a climate of success and achievement for all.
The SEN Unit Lead Teacher will want to make a difference. They will be ready for a challenge and will bring a wealth of innovative and outstanding ideas to engage all stakeholders. Our Lead Teacher will be approachable and consistent; they will give and earn respect from our pupils, staff, parents and carers.
The SEN Unit Lead Teacher, with the support of the Headteacher, takes responsibility for the day to-day operation of the provision made by the school for children with Special Educational Needs (SEMH). The lead teacher liaises closely with the home school and parents/carers. Children do not come on to the Woodnewton roll but remain on their home school roll at all times.
