What skills and experience we're looking for

We are really excited to be developing a new Enhanced Provision at Spring Meadow Primary School and 'School House' Nursery, which will provide Social, Emotional and Mental Health support for children in Harwich who currently find the pressures of a busy classroom a little too challenging. The provision will be known as The Harbour, and will welcome its first pupils in September 2023.

We have begun to assemble our team, but are still looking for two highly motivated, empathetic and resilient Learning Support Assistants who have recent experience of working with children with special education needs, in particular SEMH. The SEMH Provision Learning Assistants will work alongside our Head of Provision and Provision Leader to deliver a personalised curriculum for each child.

The successful candidates will:

  • Be passionate about working children with additional needs and determined to make a difference to the lives of these children
  • Be resilient and prepared to take every day, every hour as a fresh start
  • Have recent experience in developing social and self-regulation skills in primary aged children, with a solid understanding of issues surrounding SEMH and ASD and the challenges this brings for those children
  • Have an understanding of Trauma Perceptive Practice
  • Have an understanding of attachment difficulties and the effects this can have on an individual
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have access to a car and have a full driving licence. with the appropriate insurance. to be able to travel independently to other local schools to provide outreach support
