‘Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.’ – Dr. Seuss

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children who need support the most? Do you believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and understood? If so, we want YOU to be part of our inclusion team here at Fairstead Community Primary and Nursery School.

We have created a Nurture Hub - a bespoke, caring, and dynamic provision designed for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is not your typical classroom. This is a place of healing, growth and belonging – and we’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to help us support a small number of children.

We want to recruit people who are passionate about making a positive impact on our children’s lives and want to challenge themselves to keep on improving.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A nurturing and resilient individual who can build strong, trusting relationships.
  • Someone who sees behaviour as communication, not disruption.
  • A creative, hands-on approach to supporting learning, emotional development, and wellbeing.
  • A calm and consistent presence with a good sense of humour and a lot of heart.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to support children in managing emotions, engaging with learning and developing confidence.
  • Support the delivery of therapeutic and nurturing activities tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Collaborate closely with our skilled team and help shape an inclusive, trauma-informed environment.
  • Be a role model of patience, empathy and positivity every single day.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a passionate and skilled team that believes relationships are the key to change.
  • Receive high-quality training and ongoing support in SEMH and trauma-informed practice.
  • Enjoy a fulfilling role where no two days are the same – and every day matters.
  • Help transform lives in a setting where children are truly seen, heard and understood

Cultural Fit

Our school is developing all the time. We have implemented a curriculum whose drivers are possibilities, community and independence. We are a school at the heart of our community, and we feel it is important for our children to have a developed sense of their locality and be proud to be part of it.

  • We believe we can all improve, children learn from staff as well as from each other
  • We believe in the potential of all children to learn
  • We engage in deep thought about challenge and quality
  • We provide opportunities to practise skills that have been learnt until over time automaticity is achieved
  • We have an openness to feedback
  • We develop worked models that communicate quality and success
  • We focus single-mindedly upon providing the best education we possibly can for our children. If you want to work hard on your practice, then this will be the school for you.

Working in a school where you are not aligned with the culture can be a miserable experience. So…we both need to have alignment if you come to work here!

We can offer:

  • An induction package to support successful integration
  • A forward-thinking school, which is committed to improvement through evidence-based research
  • Friendly and supportive staff
  • More opportunities to grow your career with our focused CPD programmes
  • Norfolk Rewards – staff discount programme
  • Part of the Viscount Nelson Education Network (VNET) incorporating a tailored package of bespoke in-school support as well as a wide range of CPD opportunities across Norfolk and beyond
  • A focus on supporting good mental health
  • High quality training and ongoing support in SEMH and trauma-informed practice.

Visits to the school are encouraged. If you would like to visit the school, you will be assured a warm welcome. Please contact Kerry Tucker, School Business Manager, who will be more than happy to arrange your visit.
