What skills and experience we're looking for
Qualified teacher
status or recognised equivalent
Recent experience of teaching pupils with severe
learning difficulties
Safeguarding and child protection
Promoting a high quality, stimulating learning
environment
The ability to communicate complex information A clear understanding of the essential qualities necessary for effective teaching and learning
Understanding of effective behaviour support and
teaching strategies frequently used within the special school setting
Sound knowledge of the curriculum and assessment
at the level appropriate to the special school setting
Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations
and guidance relating to the post including understanding of OFSTED
requirements and latest developments in special education
Safeguarding procedures and Equal Opportunities
Experience of teaching an SEN curriculum
Using consistently high-quality teaching strategies to meet the wide range of ages and abilities of our pupils, teaching consistently good to outstanding lessons, with a good differentiation of the curriculum
Dealing successfully with situations that may include tackling difficult situations and conflict resolution
Facilitating a collaborative approach to decision making

All staff and visitors are prohibited from having personal mobile phones on when near any pupil. All phones must be switched off and put away at all times.
All staff and visitors must wear an ID badge at all times.
Our school premises are secure and all visitors must sign in and show proof of identity.
We follow stringent safer recruitment procedures and all staff have enhanced DBS checks to ensure that they are suitable to work with vulnerable children and young adults. .
The school work closely with other agencies to ensure that pupils and families needs are met.
