SEN Class Teacher job summary
DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF AN EXCITING NEW SEND UNIT
FOR PUPILS WITH COMMUNICATION AND INTERACTION NEEDS, NAMELY AUTISM?
We are seeking to appoint a SEND Teacher.
“Pupils achieve well and make good progress because teaching is consistently good… Pupils’ behaviour is typically good, both in the classroom and around the school. This is a major factor in the good progress pupils make in lessons.” (Ofsted).
As part of Leicestershire County Council’s commitment to create school places for children with SEND, Thorpe Acre Junior School will be opening a new 10 place provision on the school campus for children with communication and interaction needs, namely autism.
The governors are looking to appoint, a teacher to be based in the Resource Base next to the mainstream school. The Base is due to open in October 2020 and you will be working with a newly established team of four.
Commitment to safeguarding
Thorpe Acre Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; pre-employment checks will be carried out; identification and Right to Work in the UK will be required; references will be sought, and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for a regulated activity (including a barred list check) and other relevant checks with statutory bodies.
We actively support the government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
