SEN Classroom Teacher job summary
NO AGENCIES PLEASE
Please Note We Would Consider Applicants Who Are Looking Part-Time, If The Full Time Role Can Be Covered In This Way.
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated, and innovative SEN Classroom Teacher to join our team at West Hill School. We are looking for an exceptional primary SEN teacher who can help our children to ACHIEVE as much as they possibly can and FLOURISH in adult life. If you have prior experience this does not need to be from a special school and we welcome and support teachers looking to transfer from mainstream. We welcome applications from ECT's.
This opportunity has arisen due to our continued expansion. Our primary children work at least 3-4 years away from age-related expectations and all pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan covering a range of complex learning difficulties, including speech and language difficulties, autism and/or medical needs. Our models of learning mean that our children are based in mixed aged groups of 10-12 children. All teachers coordinate a subject. Currently the class you would be teaching is in KS1 although we regularly promote and support staff to teach across our school.
We can offer you:
• Keen and eager children who are learning how to learn and ultimately love learning
• Friendly and supportive staff, parents and governors
• Varied curriculum and development opportunities
• An amazing environment in which children really thrive
Teachers at West Hill need to be team players and who embrace change as an opportunity. We are a “can do” school and we want innovation and enthusiasm to help us continue to develop our provision with us and drive forward our high standards. You will be a confident and adaptable individual who is ready to become part of our community.
THPT value their staff very highly, as reflected in the excellent retention rates across the Trust. THPT also operate an extensive Rewards and Benefits Scheme that includes Loyalty & Service Awards, consideration of relocation packages, travel allowances and grants, access to discount schemes and membership of the Teacher Pension Scheme.
Interviews may happen earlier than the closing date by mutual agreement; early applications are encouraged.

West Hill School is a special school for children with Learning and Additional Needs. It has a long history of being a highly successful special school.
Our vision is for every child at West Hill to achieve as much as they possibly can and we will do everything possible to ensure that every child receives the best teaching, learning opportunities, curriculum, excellent staff/child/parent relationships and additional support to make this happen.
We take responsibility for nurturing and developing the personal qualities of every child and will emphasise the importance of exemplary behaviour and help children learn how to show it.
We provide our staff with the tools and support to instil a strong learning culture in their classrooms. Teaching at West Hill is excellent. Our team of dedicated staff is committed to all our children’s success.
We believe that children whose parents are involved in their learning do better than if they are not. We involve parents in their children’s learning and encourage them to be active members of the school community. Parent communication is organised to encourage wide participation and honest conversation.
