What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Can work closely with the headteacher and other senior colleagues to manage SEN provision within the school and provide support for other teachers.
  • Has completed the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or will achieve this qualification after appointment.
  • Is able to oversee the implementation of the school’s SEN strategy and policy.
  • Will carry out assessments of pupils with SEN to identify needs and monitor progress – including observations in the classroom and meeting with teachers and parents.
  • Will work with teachers, school leadership team, parents and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor individual support/learning plans.
  • Can make referrals and liaise with professionals outside of the school.
  • Is able to provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents.
  • Will work with teachers to develop schemes of work and learning programmes for pupils with SEN.
