What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you know how to encourage, inspire and motivate all learners regardless of their ‘label’?
Teaching at all levels requires a special person who sees potential in all and strives to tease out the very best in every learner. Overlay that with a resource base that caters for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and we ask for even more vision and belief that a future of hope can be achieved with dedicated support and understanding.
We’re looking for an outstanding SEN professional to lead the teaching and learning of a group of up to 12 pupils with varying significant special educational needs within our SEN Resource Base.
You will be responsible for designing and delivering a highly personalised curriculum, supported by a small team of support staff. It is essential that you ensure the holistic development, learning progress and well-being of each child, in line with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This will require working closely with families, SENCo, the wider school team and external professionals.
Oasis Academy South Bank Primary is a special place where you’ll be able to inspire, engage, motivate and challenge children to raise achievement at all levels. Supported by our culture of high performance and expectations for all members of the school community you can make a tangible difference to the lives of pupils you teach.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality education to all children in the SEN resource base to help them fulfil their potential, leading colleagues in the effective and engaging teaching and learning methods
- Forming and executing a clear vision for the development of our SEN resource base, taking a leadership role in curriculum development and assessment design
- Lead the implementation of personalised learning programmes based on each pupil’s EHCP, developing these in response to pupil progress
A full job description is attached to this vacancy.
You’ll bring:
- Expertise in SEN education, with experience in working with pupils with a range of abilities
- Experience using a range of evidence-informed approaches and strategies to support communication, cognition, independence and social and emotional development
- A passion for SEN education, with an aspirational approach to learning and the belief that all pupils can achieve positive outcomes through small successes
It is most important that you are a enthusiastic and dedicated SEN teacher. We welcome applications from candidates with experience in similar roles, as well as those looking to take the next step in their leadership journey.
