The North and South West Durham Learning Federation was formed in 2019 between Evergreen Primary School, The Croft Community School and The Oaks Secondary School. All schools are generic special schools. Evergreen opened in new, purpose built premises in September 2005. Evergreen caters for Primary pupils who have a range of SEND including moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or Autism Spectrum Conditions. The Croft caters for Primary and Secondary pupil and The Oaks caters for secondary pupils who have moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Evergreen School was judged ‘good’ following a recent OFSTED inspection where inspectors “found the school to be a calm and happy place, where pupils are developing into confident and enthusiastic learners.” Evergreen’s vision is Inspire, Enjoy, Achieve! Evergreen is accredited by the National Autistic Society for its provision for ASC pupils.
