What skills and experience we're looking for

Arden Multi Academy Trust is a family of six schools comprising: Arden Academy (Knowle), Dorridge Primary School (Dorridge), Coppice Academy (Solihull), Lode Heath School (Solihull), Park Hall Academy (Castle Bromwich) and Henley-in-Arden School (Henley-in-Arden). As a Trust we truly value the success of every child and we place the sharing of excellent education practice at the core of our values. We are committed to improving the quality of education and life in for all our students. The Trust operates from its hub in Knowle, to the south of Solihull.

As a Trust we are looking to appoint a SEN Specialist Teacher for Cognition and Learning, to further enhance the provision for our most vulnerable children, working across our secondary schools. You will be working closely with other experienced SEN Specialist Teachers, as well as external specialist services, including Educational Psychologists.

They key responsibilities for this post are as follows (a comprehensive job description and a person specification are both available):

  • To empower and enable schools within the Trust to meet the needs of children with SEND, helping to build capacity by developing knowledge, skills and understanding.
  • To ensure that the special educational needs of children with SEND are met.
  • To support families and partners in other agencies in a person centred, team around the child approach to ensure the needs of children with SEND are met and their outcomes improve
  • To promote Inclusion and the Arden Multi Academy Trust vision and philosophy.
  • To engage with other services and colleagues within and beyond the Arden Multi Academy Trust to help ensure schools have the services and support they require to meet the needs of the children, young people and families they serve

We welcome applications from specialist teachers who may seek either a full-time or part-time position. While enabling you to enjoy the advantages of working across several of our schools, many of our specialist teachers find the increased consistency and sense of belonging that we offer appealing. You may also want some consistency in terms of employment to compliment your independent business. We acknowledge the significant impact our specialist teachers have on student outcomes; hence we may consider accommodating a request to maintain a teaching group in one of our secondary schools if desired by a candidate. This presents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated specialist teacher to positively influence our young learners within a growing multi-academy trust and contribute to our inclusion provision. Additionally, you will have access to the Teacher Pension and a Cycle to Work scheme.

Arden is a truly exceptional school at the heart of the community and the peak of academic excellence. Situated just minutes off Junction 5 of the M42 and only 3 miles from the town of Solihull, visitors are astounded by our confident and articulate students. Our recent Ofsted report spoke about the culture of ‘exceptionally high aspirations that permeate the school’ and ‘the positive relationships between staff and pupils’ where ‘teachers teach individuals, not classes’. As an innovative school always striving for better there is a constant drive to achieve maximum personal and academic potential and as part of a Multi Academy Trust there is the opportunity for exceptional training and the sharing of knowledge and ideas.
