SEN Teacher – Alternative Learning Provision (ALP) job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the University of Brighton Academies Trust in a new and innovative project which places inclusion at the centre of our practice. In order to reduce exclusions and behavioural incidents across our Trust Academies we are opening a new and exciting Flexible Learning Provision which will support small groups of pupils to improve their behaviour within a nurturing, safe and secure environment.

The provision will demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and strive to use innovative and child-centred techniques, alongside a rich and engaging curriculum that is tailored to meet the needs of the pupils. The provision will work closely with external agencies as well as our own in-house support services E.g. Speech and Language Therapists to develop an approach that best supports the pupils' needs.

As the provision develops, it will offer outreach support to Trust academies to enable the successful transition of these pupils back into their mainstream classrooms.

We will offer the successful candidate a comprehensive programme of CPD and enable them to provide outreach support, in the form of coaching around behaviour management and strategies to best support SEN pupils.

In return for your skills, knowledge and experience, we offer you:

Family friendly policies that are designed to support you with a work-life balance, wellbeing and the financial aspects of life
Excellent facilities and resources for staff and students
A calm, positive and innovative learning environment
Automatic annual pay progression
Generous public sector pension scheme
Flexible working opportunities from day 1
Discounts on retail & travel
Cycle 2 Work scheme

High quality continuous professional development and support for your career progression including: An annual personal development day, job-related apprenticeships to enhance your skillset, open access online training courses and Scholarships run in collaboration with the University of Brighton.
