What skills and experience we're looking for

Teaching and learning

  • To plan, resource, deliver, monitor and review progress for children with SEN on individual /group programmes within the classroom or as part of a withdrawal strategy.
  • To develop and implement teaching strategies to ensure early intervention of students with special and additional needs.
  • To provide specialist skills and knowledge, at an advanced level, to encourage pupils with SEN to benefit from the planned learning activities
  • To ensure that ICT, Literacy, Numeracy are reflected in the teaching/learning experience of SEN students that you teach..
  • To promote active and independent learning that enables students to think for themselves and to plan and manage their own learning.
  • To employ effective behaviour management skills so that there is a positive climate for learning established in the classroom and students feel safe secure and confident because behaviour for learning is managed well.
  • To plan for the effective deployment of any support staff who are contributing to students' learning.

  • Curriculum Development

  • To contribute to the development of schemes of work, teaching strategies, resources, assessment and marking policies with the SENCO
  • To contribute to strategies to achieve relevant departmental and school improvement.
  • To be responsible for effective and efficient management of any resources that are delegated.
  • To identify quantifiable and challenging student progress objectives and plan appropriate strategies to achieve target levels.
  • Professional Development

  • To maintain personal professional development
  • To attend relevant CPD sessions and meetings
  • To use feedback from lesson observation, work scrutiny and analysis of assessment data to inform future planning and teaching.
  • Other

    • To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual SEN students and groups of SEN students.

    Elthorne Park High School is a successful and significantly oversubscribed 11-18 mixed school with around 1250 students in key stages 3/4 and over 300 in the sixth form, situated in West London within walking distance of Boston Manor underground station. We are a high-performing school that has risen to become one of the top 200 in the country and is continuing to improve. We have again received a record number of applications for post-16 study this year and will be expanding our sixth form in September 2022.

    With a new £14 million state of the art building equipped as a centre of excellence we can offer a range of outstanding resources including 14 ICT suites, a Citrix based network allowing home access and a focus on collaboration via Google Classroom. Work will begin in the Summer term 2022 on a new sixth form building to accommodate growing post-16 student numbers.

    In March 2019 Ofsted judged us to be outstanding.
