Could you help shape and deliver a creative, dynamic curriculum designed to engage and excite children who have struggled to thrive in mainstream schools?

Are you a secondary teacher with a particular interest in finding strategies to support children with SEN in the classroom?

Would you like to join our truly inclusive academy community?

We are keen to appoint an experienced teacher who has an understanding of the challenges our students face and a determination to support KS3 children with SEN.

We can offer you a place of work where staff and colleagues share a determination to improve the outcomes for excluded and vulnerable children. This teaching role will allow you to work with small groups of our KS3 pupils. We need a teacher who will challenge the use of the label “learning difficulties”, raise students’ ambitions and champion our students with “learning differences” in our inclusive academy.

This is a great opportunity to join our multi-academy trust which specialises in alternative provision. We believe that working with excluded children and young people is immensely rewarding.

Hours: Full time or part time

Essential educational requirements

First degree or equivalent

Essential qualifications

DfE recognised qualified teacher status/Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills

Evidence of CPD which enhances classroom practice

Essential skills and experience

Evidence of recent successful classroom practice

Excellent classroom teacher with the ability to reflect on lessons and continually improve their own practice. Lessons are consistently judged to be good or better

Effective and systematic behaviour management – experience of using de-escalation techniques in a school setting; experience of maintaining clear boundaries and using sanctions, praise and rewards

Detailed knowledge of KS3 curriculum (any subject)

About Olive Alternative Provision Academy Suffolk (Central)

Olive AP Academy – Suffolk is based in Stowmarket. Our alternative provision academy supports pupils aged between 7 and 16. The academy offers students an inspiring curriculum with high quality newly refurbished classrooms, a sports hall, art and design technology room, science laboratory, construction room, motor mechanics workshops, orchard and garden. The academy has up to 92 pupils on roll at any time and offers support to pupils in Key Stages 2-4 with complex or medical needs and those who have been permanently excluded from school.
