What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an innovative, highly motivated and inspirational teacher to join the Severndale Team. You will be joining an exceptional group of highly skilled Teachers, Teaching Assistants and support staff who work collaboratively to provide a highly personalised curriculum. We particularly encourage teachers with experience in SEND provision in Special or Mainstream EYFS/KS1/2 who have a passion for art, music and design technology to apply.
The main purpose of this post is to provide exciting and highly engaging quality teaching which delivers an appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of each pupil in accordance with the aims of the Academy. This will involve ongoing and close liaison with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals and support staff. The successful candidate would be part of the Key Stage 2 teaching team, and would ideally have a passion for ’My Creativity’ through art, music and design technology to enhance the ’My Creativity’ provision in KS2.
Essential attributes:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Some SEN experience
- Awareness of current practice in relation to SEN
- Able to work as a member of a team/ head a team

- Undertake training in Restrictive Physical Prevention (Restraint)
Desirable attributes:
- Evidence of higher level study / further qualifications in SEN
- breadth of SEN experience from mainstream
- Involvement in local/regional or national developments in SEN
- Post-16 SLD, MLD and CLDD
- Team Teach training

Severndale Specialist Academy:
Severndale Specialist Academy is a multi-site special school incorporating our Monkmoor campus, provision within a local mainstream secondary school and a purpose built 16-25 year old provision at our local college. We work with young people with special educational needs from within Shropshire and beyond. Our children and young people can access Severndale Specialist Academy from nursery age through to 25 and have a range of learning, physical and mobility difficulties and some students require personal care. Supporting communication and enabling independence is a key focus of our work .
Severndale is a truly unique special school and is one of the largest special schools in the country. We are proud to be able to meet the needs of over 430 young people across all abilities of the SEND spectrum and across three different sites. Severndale is also proud to be part of The Learning Community Trust, a truly inclusive multi academy trust based in Telford.
